Underwriting Success at Denver Open Media
WORDS OF PEACE REACHES OUT TO COMMUNITY
Recently the group, Words of Peace, who produce a show at Denver Open Media decided to take advantage of our block underwriting program to help promote their show while giving back to Denver Open Media.
With a little help from our Outreach Coordinator, Deb Lastowka, Words of Peace took it upon themselves to reach out to community members to help fund the underwriting initiative. Block underwriting allows Words of Peace to be recognized at the start of their chosen block, Lifestyle and Well-Being. The actions they took not only helped them raise funds that surpassed their original goal, but it also helped raise awareness about the mission of their group. Click here to view their underwriting spot.
Here's how they did it:
Using excerpts from a presentation about underwriting created by Deb, they presented the benefits of underwriting to community members at their monthly meeting. They highlighted the reach and scope that underwriting afforded their organization and asked each person to donate $40.00 within a 3-week period. They created a mailer, contribution form and self-address stamped envelope to follow up with their members. The enthusiasm they received was overwhelming!
All of the donations were tax-deductible and 100% of the proceeds for the Block Underwriting program went to Denver Open Media. We are forever thankful for members like Words of Peace who not only bring us engaging content, but who also give back enabling us to continue to offer media accessibility to the community.
For more information about getting involved in your own underwriting campaign please click here or you can contact Deb at deb@deproduction.org.
